Michael and Rupert
« on: November 05, 2008, 04:47:58 PM »
I wrote a piece about Rupert Buxton for the website, but as it seems to have been forgotten, readers may be interested in the following: Arthur Davies and Victor Buxton were both at Trinity, Cambridge at the same time, and both new Hugh Macnaghten.  Later, two of Victor's sons, Clarence and Maurice where oppidans in Macnaghten's house, their time overlapping with both George and Michael.  Michael played in the same house Field Game team as Maurice, and I suspect a careful reading of The Eton Chronicle  may reveal other connections.  I think it's reasonable to suppose that Michael and Rupert had encountered each other before meeting at Christ Church.
Meanwhile, Piers Dudgeon, without any acknowledgment, has used material I supplied to the website.  Ho hum.

Nicholas's excellent article has not been forgotten, it's just that the site has been almost entirely rewritten by Dafydd which has taken far longer than we thought. Nicholas, if you could kindly email the latest version as a PDF, we will add it to Michael's page...  and btw, that skunk Dudgeon clearly owes you one too!
