Saying Hi

'Allo, all...

No one seems to be of the introducing sort around here, but I don't want to be a troll, so I thought I'd make my presence known.

My name is Ien (Like Ian, or Iain, but not) and I live and work in NYC.  I've had a deep obsession with Barrie and Peter Pan since college, when I was rather abruptly forced towards growing up, though I've loved it all since childhood.

Currently running at the Swedish Cottage Marionette Theater in Central Park, where I work, is an adaptation of Peter Pan... which, in my humble view, is rather...(insert many ellipses for effect) .... bad... in retaliation of which I started reading Mr. Birkin's book again, and could be seen on subways all over manhattan and brooklyn laughing and near tears at the appropriate points. My most sincere thanks for your book, sir, by the way... it has helped this more academically-minded artistic sort to more fully understand the nuances behind Barrie's work. The sum-total of the above events culminating in a re-visit to this brilliant website and my joining the forum.

So sorry, again, if such isn't accepted, but greetings to you all!
Yours Affectionately,
Ien

No need for apologies, Ien, and welcome to this forum. Your input/reflections/whatever will be greatly appreciated!  And of course thanks for what you say about my book, or rather the effect it has had on you - always gratifying to hear!  Andrew

No need to apologise! Introducing oneself is always a good thing...you don't usually see people doing this around here just because most of us already know each other throught other forums and mailing lists.

Welcome aboard!
