Could you please help me about Barrie's genealogy ?
« on: June 20, 2012, 08:04:48 PM »
Hello,

I'm a french reader of James matthew Barrie and i'm actually working on he's books.

I'm  actually working on he's genealogic tree: familial history, dates, birth and death certificates, mournings, sufferings...

Does someone have any information about that upon he's grand parents level (familly Barrie & family Ogilivy & family Mitchell & family Edwards)?
Thank you all for your much appreciated help  :) !

If you scroll down through in the JM Barrie section in this forum, you will see many posts by descendants of his siblings or other relatives, who might be able to help you in your research. One of them would be Tanya Vaughan, a great-great-granddaughter of one of JMB's brothers, who inherited a lot of archives from her grandmother. The other person who could also be helpful is Sandra Affleck of the Kirriemuir Heritage Society who should be able to point you in the right direction, as she has done a lot of research on the Barrie and Ogilvy families, as well as know many of their descendants still living in or near Kirriemuir. (Both Tanya's and Sandra's emails are listed in the members' list.)

Good luck with your research and please keep us informed of your results. Are you writing a book about Barrie and his family?

Hello,

Thank you very much for your help !

I'm student in a french psychotherapy school. I need to write an article so i chose this subject. This article will not be published and will be confidential.
I want to see if there are some links between his family's story and his works.
I particulary need to know if they were traumas in his family's story:  diseases, death of premature babies, stillborn infants, women dying during birth. I'm also looking for genealogic trees.
I need these informations on his mother's and father's sides on two generations or more... (his grand parents and great-grand parents).

Thank you very much !

There is a new website i believe called myfamilytree.com that allows you to enter a person's name and their genealogy will appear. The problem is that is not always exact but worth a try.
