Aang in AVATAR: THE LAST AIRBENDER

I always thought that Ang in AVATAR: THE LAST AIRBENDER was sort of a modern, mythological take on Peter.  The way Aang can manipulate air and fly (with the use of his glider) is the most obvious connection.  But he also spirits away two children from their home in an effort ot defeat the Fire Nation (Hook?).
Anyway, it is one of the best cartoons of the last couple of decades, with real interesting can complex characters.  M. Night Shyamalan is now making it into a live action movie.  From the coming attractions previews on its site, it actually looks quite good:

Haha, that idea makes me think of the first episode of the series that I saw, the one where the characters are watching a theatrical performance of...THEMSELVES.

Aang's chief complaint about it: "I'm not a GIRL!"  (An actress is playing his role.)  Hmm, what other boy character do we know of who's traditionally played by an actress...?
