Michael and Oil Painting

According to a letter from Barrie to Cynthia Asquith dated 26 August 1920 (Eilean Shona trip) in “Letters of J.M. Barrie” by Viola Meynell, Michael liked to paint oil-portraits of people, including Barrie.

“If Michael is not playing (he is extraordinarily energetic up here) he is drawing such oil-portraits of me that if I believed they did me justice I would throw myself from our highest peak. I have an uncomfortable feeling that his portraits of other persons are rather like them.”

I know most of this quote is said verbatim in The Lost Boys movie, but it doesn’t specify Michael doing oil painting portraits, so it was interesting to discover that in this book.
