Peter's Shadow
« on: March 10, 2009, 05:07:00 PM »
Hey every body
What are your thoughts on Peter Pan's lost shadow?
In our literature in Switzerlad it often means one lost his soul (in the old books) but I don't think it means that Peter Pan lost his soul for just one night. What do you think?

If you go to the Home page, click on "Peter Pan" then click on "Fairy Notes", then search for "shadows", you'll find a lot of Barrie's early thoughts on the subject. I like the idea that his shadow is in some sense his soul, and that without it he feels lost...

I've always wondered about this too! Me and my boyfriend (we call each other Peter & Wendy teehee) are writing a new show of Peter Pan...even though it's public domain here we're still going to donate to GOSH. We were wondering about the shadow...it's always...how shall I say...caffufled us? lol I like the soul idea...in which case what is the symbology of Wendy's sewing it back on? In a way could it be said she helped him get his soul back because she loved him? Hmm almost poetic yes? lol
