Excerpts from a letter from Barrie to Lady Juliet Trevor. From “Letters of J.M. Barrie” by Viola Meynell.
23 April 1917
“I have been at Littlehampton and now we are here, Michael, Nicholas, and myself, and grim contests go on between M. and me at golf-croquet, the last pastime at which I can stand up against him and I’m afraid that my supremacy even at that is shooting down the horizon.”
“ Michael is waiting to ‘pulverise’ me at the hoops so off I go with sinking heart.”
