My dear Josephine
I send you on those other letters in a box.
It was very nice seeing you, and still nicer liking you as much as I wanted to do. But I was not afraid. I knew there was one matter on which George could make no mistake. I hope we shall always be friends, though it has begun in a way so much more sad than it was planned.
