Peter and Wendy 2011: a project
« on: June 04, 2011, 10:50:13 AM »
Hello, everybody. Nice to be here! I`m a researcher from Brazil and I study the reception of Peter Pan in my country, its translations to portuguese, etc since 2006. My english isn't good enough to write, but I can read it quite well. I'm a writer and illustrator too, and I have a project which I`d like do share with all of you: I'm just making a series of drawings for PeterPan and Wendy's novel. This drawings are part of my thesis of doctorade. Unfortunately, you probably can't read my comments, but you'll be able to look at the pictures. Right now, I'm showing only the first studies. The blog is: http://peterpanwendyprojeto.blogspot.com/.  I'd like very much to receive any comments from you all. Thanks!

I think you are off to a terrific start.  I would say that your main picture of Peter (where he is kneeling with his hand on his hip) makes him look a bit too "other worldly" and almost evil.  There is supposed to be an innocence to Peter that this picture seems to be lacking --he almost looks too adult. Yet, some of your black and white notebook pics of Peter look much more appropriate.  I think you should try to lose that "elvish" look around his eyes and ears.  He is supposed to be a regualr human boy. Perhaps it is just that one picture, but he does not look like the enchanting boy that Wendy would fly away with.  He should definitely have a "mischief" look about him (Barrie did not like the statue in K. Gardens because it didn't capture the "devil" in Peter).
