50 Years of PETER PAN (book)
« on: August 12, 2009, 03:40:04 AM »
I was looking at this book on some used book sites.  it is quite expensive.  I was wondering if anyone here has read it.  How is it?  Are there lots of pictures? Do you think I should get it?

Yes, it's by far the best book on Peter Pan ever written!  Moreover Roger Lancelyn Green was a good friend of Peter and Ncio Davies, and wrote from modest authority... I found it indispensible!

I was able to borrow a copy on InterLibrary Loan and Andrew is right (well of course he is!! :D)  The book is wonderful.  I would suggest trying to get it on ILL - people sometimes forget that you don't have to buy everything.

I got the feeling that Nico was more behind 50 Years of Peter Pan than Peter - am I right?

you know I actually had a copy of this book when I was young, but I accidently left it around my pile of giveaway books to a local shelter, and stuffed it in the bag without thinking. I didn't even get to finish it!!! Well, at least it didn't go in the garbage and I hope someone else is enjoying it.

"I got the feeling that Nico was more behind 50 Years of Peter Pan than Peter - am I right?"

Totally right! Peter only agreed to publish the book on condition that Roger never asked him a single question about Peter Pan!

I can't believe it!!!!! I just came home from a really crappy school day and everybody annoyed me beyond possibilities and I was shutting doors louder than necessary. And then, lying on our kitchen table, there it was. A book with a simple, crimson cover, a little stained here and there. I pick it up. My eyes focus on the golden writing on the back. I can't make it out right away, it is a bit faded. but then I read: FIFTY YEARS OF PETER PAN.
It is a first edition published by Peter Davies. oh. my. WORD!!
Oh my god!! I'm so excited!! My mom ordered it from amazon. It's unbelievable! I so have to start reading it right away. Alright, I'm shutting down my computer. Bye! a very very distraced and very very happy Lesley
