Mabou Mines's Peter and Wendy
« on: September 05, 2009, 07:49:22 AM »
There have been highly praising reviews of Mabou Mines's "lovingly executed interpretation of Peter Pan" - called "Peter and Wendy" - in the press recently *.  The moving puppetry performance, at the Royal Lyceum in Edinburgh, opened on 2nd September and closes today, 5th September.  Anyone within reach would be well-advised to get along there this evening.

* For example, take a look at these two:

If you are a PETER PAN fan, you DO NOT want to miss this (like I did).  I came close to seeing this about 3 years ago when it was playing in Washington D.C.  I ended up not going and have since read the reviews of the D.C. production as well as the original New York production and I cold KICK myself for not seeing it!
It is supposedly quite a unique and very moving production, with one incredible actress voicing every character in the play, and a haunting celtic score.  The people I have spoken to who have seen it, said it was not only the best PETER PAN they have ever seen, but referred to it as one of the most unforgettable theatrical experiences they had ever witnessed.  And the ending (as mentioned in both reviews posted above) is supposed to be absolutely heartbreaking.
It truly is NOT TO BE MISSED!!
I hope they perform it here in the states soon after this production as I really want to see this!
