"Thrums on the Old String: a satirical piece in Punch, spoofing Barrie's hugely successful Thrums novels, Auld Licht Idylls and A Window in Thrums. It's an indication of his fame that Punch would devote a whole page to sending him up. I found it quite by chance, leafing through an old copy; I wonder how JMB took it - probably with a flattered chuckle as he knew many of Punch's contributors and illustrators.
The missing line in the right column reads "Then here are some particularly neat things in cheques."
