Letter from Barrie to Maude Adams, touring in Peter Pan, 22 March 1906
[No original available]
My dear Maudie,
How splendid all the accounts of your Peter are. Even Barbie surely is getting jealous, and she could go to the Never, Never Land and make a row were it not (she says) that after all he is a boy, and she had always a weakness for boys herself.
I feel sure you are the most entrancing little boy that ever was by see your sure, and I hear of things you do in the part which are so absolutely what Peter did that it makes me gay. Then ever was such a girl has you are finding out what her author was up to. I must see you as Peter, and so, dear little Maudie, goodnight.
