23 Campden Hill Square, W
27 December 1913

Dear Mrs Lewis,
I am a great knut in my scarf. So the boys say. It will probably change my mode of life. [...] The boys go off with all my beautiful garments (as bought by Brown) but I shall stick to this one. Peter [Ll.D] was mauled in the "Wall Game" three weeks ago and in bed ever since (kicked on shin) but got up yesterday with the demon of unrest strong on him. A very happy new year to you all.
Yours, J.M.B.
