Yes indeed it is the one left who is struck dead. I am sure that even the sunshine is painful to you now. I am even glad that the cold has driven used to bed for you can keep your eyes shut and physically you must be worn out.... I am alone again now except that I have Freyberg with me until he goes off to New Zealand, having got his six months leave for health and to see his mother.
