to Mrs Oliver - 1922

Description

All my best wishes to Beatrix ... It brings back to me Jack's telegram down at the lake, and we are all getting ready for Edinburgh, with the most important person [Michael] back again. I associate him with so much happiness at Edgerston that I go looking for him there still by the burns pretty well every day of my life, and your home there and you will ever be to me inexpressibly dear on that account.... I have not indeed much to tell you of myself except that I jog along more listlessly than perhaps I ought and succeed more or less in presenting a wooden face to the world or that narrowing part of it I know. Nicholas is still a bright feature and soon the clock will strike his 19 years.
