Dearest Mary,<br /> Thank you, as always, for my birthday greetings. A particular pleasure I got was that Mary (who had Tom here and ? has hands very full) forgot all about it. So when Tom came into the room exclaiming of his morning spent in a shop in Stotfold and I said, ‘Did you get anything for your Grandfather?’ and after he had shaken his head, ‘Not even on his 59th Birthday?’ poor Mary was aghast!
