Description

This is a script I wrote back in 1998/99 for Hallmark/NBC TV. No one realized that Gerard Depardieu was also making his own version of Napoleon's story for TV, and as he was already into pre-production by the time I'd finished my script, ours got shelved. A pity from my POV as I think it's the best thing I've ever thrown together, largely thanks to Napoleon himself as wherever possible I used his words, not mine. Robert Halmi (who owned Hallmark) told me he was truly gutted that NBC couldn't finance it, given that there wasn't room for two Napoleons in the TV market place at the same time.
