Dorothy Miriam Dix was George's first big teenage crush during his early time at Eton. She was born in London on 27 February 1892, and was thus only a year older than George. She made her London debut in Monsieur Beaucaire (1907) and came to prominence in The White Man (1908), playing the part of a Tiger-Lily-esque Indian squaw, Nat-u-Hitch; other plays include The Conquest, The Three Musketeers, The Rivals, Daddy Long-Legs, Fair and Warmer, Don Q, The Czarina (title role), The Cherry Orchard, The Donovan Affair, The Lad and Hamlet; she later made her Broadway debut in The Father (1931); her films included The First Mrs. Fraser in the title role. She was married firstly to a Mr Jameson Thomas, which ended in divorce; secondly to a music publisher, Talbot Vezey-Strong, which also ended in divorce; and finally to a Mr Roy Clarke, with whom she appears to have lived until she died in New York in January 1970.
I can find little more about her on the net, but any additional info will be gratefully received.
