Barrie and his wife Mary Ansell lived from 1900 to 1909 at Leinster Corner, 100 Bayswater Road, London W2. It was built in 1820 as half of one of four pairs of semi-detached, double fronted villas and is one part of the only surviving pair, the others having been demolished in the 1960s to make way for high rise buildings. Mary Ansell refurbished and decorated the house extensively, in particularly knocking down the walls on the ground floor to create a through sitting room. The house is now a listed Grade II Regency building.
In the 1920s, it was bought by Edward Hilton Young (later Baron Kennet) and his wife the sculptress Kathleen, née Bruce, widow of Captain Scott (of the Antarctic). Captain Scott and Kathleen were friends of Barrie, who was godfather to their son Peter (who became a famed ornithologist, conservationist & artist). Kathleen & Edward Hilton Young's son Wayland (2nd Baron Kennet) and his wife Elizabeth Adams lived at The house until their death, and it was sold in 2015.
The photos were taken before the house was sold and a lot of refurbishment and internal modernisation work has since been done to it. The name "Leinster Corner" has been restored to the street door.
