I assume you hadn't met Barrie before your engagement? <br /> <br /> No I hadn't. Barrie came up specially to meet me and vet me I suppose. We were supposed to be engaged for a year. And then he had a great friend, who lived in the southern part of the Olivers. And Katie Oliver told me he went to the top of the hill one night and deciding whether these two young things should be allowed to get married or not. Because after about 6 months there was some question of an unexpected 5 days of leave. And Jack rang Barrie I suppose and asked permission if we should get married earlier. And the plan (man?) with Katie Oliver, he must've said yes. And then we got married.
