I can't remember her at all except lying down. Of course she was, she had her moments of being upright for a couple of years or so. Well yes I can remember her coming through from her bedroom and sitting on the stool by the piano and playing waltzes by Strauss. So she was must have been up at that stage. But most of the time she was stretched out on a soft or a bed or whatever it was. When you get to Ashton, I can't really see her at Ashton at all. Well father was dead in 1910. She was very young when he died wasn't she? I was 3 when father died. I can't remember him at all. I can't remember as much as perhaps as other people would of mother. She certainly was up when I was doing my job...she was sitting downstairs.
